St. Petersburg celebrating Christmas
St. Petersburg celebrates Christmas. However, due to the pandemic not all the churches of the city held festive services at night.
Metropolitan Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga served the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of our Lady of Kazan. St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov and Chairman of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Vyacheslav Makarov attended the service.
Metropolitan Varsonofy read the Christmas message by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. In his message, the Patriarch noted the role of doctors and asked believers to pray to the Lord that He may grant the soonest recovery to those who are sick and send down His help to physicians and all medical workers.
The night liturgy in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan was broadcast on the web portal of Saint-Petersburg TV Channel topspb.tv and in the channel’s social media accounts.
