Governor addresses St. Petersburg people on Christmas

St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov has extended his best wishes to the Orthodox Christians and all those celebrating Christmas in St. Petersburg.
The Governor noted that the radiant and joyful feast of Christmas brings to us the events of utmost importance that took place more than two thousand years ago. On these festive days, we turn to the historic traditions and roots of our people, the press office of the city government quotes Alexander Beglov.
The residents of St. Petersburg are especially fond of the feast of Christmas, the Governor noted. Several churches are consecrated in honour of the Nativity of Christ. Recently, the Church of the Nativity of Christ in Peski was built anew.
Today, the world is being tested by challenges unfamiliar for several generations, and everybody needs spiritual strength and caring attention to our neighbours.
‘I would like to wish you happy and joyful Christmastide, good health and wealth,’ the Governor said.
