A day before Christmas Eve, Vyacheslav Makarov, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly, visited the Convent of St. John of Rila and wished Merry Christmas to the parishioners.
After listening to the choir singing solemn hymns and Christmas carols, Vyacheslav Makarov spoke to the young parishioners. The children told him what the feast of Christmas is about in their opinion. After the meeting, they were given presents from the United Russia party.
Vyacheslav Makarov said: ‘Last year gave us an opportunity to practice Christian principles helping and supporting each other in difficult situations. This is the core of our character. And today we are looking forward for Christmas, this great Orthodox feast.’
This night, festive services will start in the Orthodox churches in St. Petersburg. The main service will be held in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan.
