Saint-Petersburg TV Channel to broadcast Faces of Baroque concert

The Faces of Baroque concert will be held in the Menshikov Palace in the framework of the Palaces of St. Petersburg festival.

Sonatas by Luigi Madonis and Giovannni Verocai will be performed in the Assembly Hall where the famous assemblies initiated by Peter the Great and imperial receptions were held.

The two composers were students of Antonio Vivaldi and court musicians during the reign of Empress Anna Ioannovna in Russia. The programme also ncludes masterpieces by Handel, Purcell, Morley, Vivaldi and Bach. 

The audience will be able to compare how Baroque compositions sound when played using modern and authentic music instruments.  

Sergey Filchenko’s Baroque Capella Quantum Satis, Saint-Petersburg Trio, vocalists Lyubov Sharomova (soprano) and Darya Telyatnikova (mezzo soprano) will perform.

The concert will be broadcast online at 19.30 on the YouTube channel of the festival and on the Saint-Petersburg TV Channel web portal.
