A unique research and education center for industrial artificial intelligence has been established in St. Petersburg. Its mission is to promote developing AI technologies for various industry segments. St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov and Gazprom Neft Chairman Alexander Dyukov lead the Supervisory Board of the center.
Vladimir Knyaginin, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg, says: ‘The center will train high-qualified specialists that will be able to solve the tasks set by the industry.’
Vladimir Knyaginin noted that the center is to unite research institutes, students of different universities, and the industrial sector. The project was launched in the framework of the Presidential order on strategic development in Russia.
Andrey Belevtsev, Director, Digital Transformation, Gazprom Neft, believes: ‘This center gives the city a special status as an innovative research hub as artificial intelligence and machine learning are important development trends, and developing artificial intelligence is impossible without fundamental research.’
The new center is expected to stimulate new R&D projects in St. Petersburg.
