Prospects of Arctic tourism development were on the agenda of a recent meeting of the St. Petersburg Committee for Arctic, a spokesperson for the city government told Saint-Petersburg TV Channel.
Arctic is an attractive region for travelers. In 2019, 1.2 million tourists visited it, 5% more than during 2018. St. Petersburg is prepared to take an active part in developing new projects aimed at promoting Arctic tourism.
The meeting participants agreed that St. Petersburg can become a starting point for Arctic voyages. The city can also offer its own touristic routes to the Arctic that will include city attractions as well.
The Committee has developed an Arctic guidebook of St. Petersburg that includes over 60 places in the city connected with Arctic exploration and development.
