The temporary COVID-19 hospital organized in the Lenexpo exhibition center is to re-open for patients on October 12, St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov told in his social media account.
The decision was made taking into account the growing number of COVID-19 cases.
Alexander Beglov wrote: ‘Unfortunately, the COVID-19 incidence rate is growing. The number of patients increased by almost 38% during the past week, and the number of those taken to hospital by 21%. At present, 13 clinic take in COVID-19 patients. On October 12 we are adding to them the department of the War Veterans’ Hospital at 21 Narodnaya Street and the temporary hospital in Lenexpo. All the beds are connected to oxygenation equipment, the hospital has a resuscitation department.’
According to Alexander Beglov, there are 2.5 thousand beds in Lenexpo at present. The temporary hospital will admit patients with COVID-19 of different severity.
The Governor added that the city authorities are doing their best to continue providing planned medical assistance.
People over 65 are recommended to self-isolate in St. Petersburg. Other residents are recommended to work from home if possible. Mass sports and entertainment events for children are forbidden.
