The fountain season in St. Petersburg is over. Vodokanal, the municipal water management company, have started putting the city fountains off this week.
Specialists of Vodokanal will drain the pipeline systems feeding each fountain with water, dismantle the pumping and lighting equipment, and seal the fountains to prepare them for the cold season.
After the equipment is conserved for the winter, it will undergo technical maintenance and service, a spokesperson for the St. Petersburg city administration told Saint-Petersburg TV Channel.
Fountain reconstruction and restoration works will continue. By the end of the year, five fountains are to be restored.
