Andrey Rublev claimed the title at St. Petersburg Open 2020, the first Russian tournament of the ATP World Tour series, a spokesperson for the St. Petersburg city administration told Saint-Petersburg TV Channel.
Rublev outplayed his opponent from Croatia Borna Coric 7/6 (7/5), 6/4. Earlier, the Austrian Jurgen Melzer and the French Edouard Roger-Vasselin became the champions at St. Petersburg Open 2020 in doubles. In the finals they outplayed Marcelo Demoliner from Brazil and Matwe Middelkoop from the Netherlands.
The awards ceremony was attended by St. Petersburg Vice Governor Vladimir Kirillov, who promised that the city government would continue supporting events that promote sports and advertise St. Petersburg as an international sports center.
The finals of St. Petersburg Open 2020 were held on Sunday October 18 at the central court of Sibur Arena in St. Petersburg. Tennis players from more than 20 countries were competing in the tournament for a week.
