Symphonist Andrea Portera from Italy has been awarded the first prize at the XIV Open Composers Competition named after Andrey Petrov held in St. Petersburg.
He presented a composition for solo voice and orchestra titled Gobolinks, TASS reports.
Russian composer Artur Vabel got the second prize for a symphonic opus. Another Russian composer, Taras Buyevsky, got the audience choice award for a violin concerto. Great Britain’s Ryan Latimer was the third.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the contest was held online.
