15 young families received keys to new apartments in Kronstadt at the end of last week. There are 48 apartments in the building. The rest of the tenants are to move in soon, too.
Young families are granted apartments under the city programme Affordable Housing for Youth. In its framework, young families pay only 70 per cent of the cost of the apartment in renovated buildings under an interest free installment plan.
The house where the young people are going to live is located in the center of Kronstadt and is surrounded by parks and other places of interest.
Viktor Borschov, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for housing, tells: ‘This year we plan to put into operation four houses, this one and the neighbouring one included. This building has 48 apartments, and the other one about 148.’
Yulia and Pavel Koldybayevs, new tenants, say: ‘We are happy to begin a new life in a new home, in a new atmosphere. We have been waiting for it for a long time. We are really grateful to the city for this opportunity.’
Next year, even more young families will be able to move into new apartments as five more apartment blocks are to be renovated under the Affordable Housing for Youth programme.
