The high-end medical technology clinic under Saint Petersburg State University is launching a project to treat orphan children with genetic disorders, a spokesperson for the University told Saint-Petersburg TV Channel.
An inter-regional coordination center has been set up in the clinic in the framework of the Healthy Country project. Doctors will collect information on orphan children with genetic deseases and route the patients to specialized clinics that are partners of the project.
The first patients under the programme are three children from a children’s home in Tatarstan, two of them are brothers with serious genetic hands and feet malformation. They will be admitted to the Pirogov Clinic, which specializes on such problems.
Treatment under the project is free for children, additional expenses are to be paid by sponsors.
