Polar captain Daniil Gavrilov from St. Petersburg plans a solo voyage around the Arctic and Antarctic to set a world record, Peterburgsky Dnevnik daily reports.
The voyage is to starts next year in summer. Gavrilov wants to make it in 6 months on board a sailing yacht without calling ports and taking supplies.
Now, he is busy preparing for the voyage, strengthening the boat hull and developing a smart system to get the boat back to collect him should he fall overboard.
The expedition will be monitored by shore-based headquarters, an Official Guinness World Records Judge and a number of other bodies.
