This may lead to air tickets getting more expensive.
St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport is raising its tariffs for airlines for taking off / landing, security and airport services. The higher dues will apply to international flights and the flights connecting St. Petersburg and Moscow.
The airport operator explains that the higher tariffs are introduced to compensate for the regional tariffs which have not been reviewed since 2017.
Pulkovo is the only large air hub to have raised its tariffs amid the lower demand for air flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Experts believe the initiative may result in flight cancellations, lower passenger traffic and higher prices for air tickets.
During the first half of 2020, Pulkovo was one of the top ten busiest air hubs both in Russia and in Europe.
