Car manufacturers had to suspend operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During January-May 2020, St. Petersburg-based production facilities of Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota made 110,900 cars, down 30% year-on-year, a spokesperson for Auto-Dealer-SPb told Saint-Petersburg TV Channel.
In May, 16,300 cars were manufactured, 44% below the May 2019 result. This was the lowest production level recorded since July 2016.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, car manufacturers had to temporarily suspend operations. Dealers hope that in June car production will grow month-on-month, despite the stopover at the Nissan facility.
