Researchers with Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University have embarked on developing an anti-COVID-19 vaccine, TASS reports quoting Andrey Vasin, acting director of the University’s Institute of biomedical systems and biotechnologies.
The vaccine is being developed on the basis of self-replicating RNA. Researchers consider using receptor-binding domain and full-sized protein.
According to Vasin, this is a second vaccine type under development in St. Petersburg. The first vaccine is being developed by the Research Institute of Influenza, it is scheduled for pre-clinical testing in July.
