Airplanes and helicopters of the Western Military District will fly over the Piskarevskoe Memorial cemetery and the city center.
On Victory Day on May 9, the military aviation of the Western Military District will make a flight over the Motherland Monument in the Piskarevskoe Memorial cemetery commemorating those who died during the war and the Siege of Leningrad, a spokesperson for the Western Military District told Saint-Petersburg TV Channel. Then the aircraft formation will fly over the city center and along the Neva River.
A heavylift transport helicopter Mi-26 will lead the formation with Mi-8, i-24 and Ka-65 Alligator helicopters following. An-26, An-12 and Tu-134 transport aircraft will continue the air formation, followed by Su-35S, Su-30SM, Su-34 and MiG-31BM fighters.
Aircraft overflights are also planned in Kursk, Orel, Voronezh, Belgorod, Vologda, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Smolensk, Vyazma, Ostrov, and Kaliningrad.
