The construction of a new nuclear icebreaker for Rosatomflot is to start on May 26 at Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg, a spokesperson for the company told Saint-Petersburg TV Channel.
The 22220 Project vessel will be named “Yakutia”. According to Baltic Shipyard, Rosatomflot usually names its icebreakers after geographic objects along the Northern Sea Route or after the Soviet nuclear icebreakers that are out of operation.
