The marble statues need protection in winter due to the climate.
The cases that protected the sculptures in the summer Garden are being removed, the Russian Museum told in its social media account.
The sculptures to be seen in the Summer Garden are copies of the original statues, but they are made of marble, too, so they need protection in winter as the climate in St. Petersburg is bad for marble.
The Russian Museum hopes that as it gets warmer the COVID outbreak will be over and people will be able to enjoy the beauty of the Summer Garden again.
At present, all the parks and gardens in St. Petersburg are closed for visitors as part of anti-COVID measures.
