An online exhibition titled ‘No to War. The Great Patriotic War in the eyes of children’ has been opened on the web. It demonstrates pictures made during the war time by the children of the members of the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists.
Viktorina Smurova, specialist with the Museum of Saint-Petersburg Art of the 20-21st centuries, explains: ‘This is a commemorative project. It is natural. It is good for both children and adults. It is about meeting the history and responding to it, in an informal way. This is the main thing about our project, it is about feeling, reflecting and partaking.’
Some of the young authors of the pictures represented at the exhibition later became well-known artists, sculptors and architects.
