An ITMO postgraduate develops an automatic fake new detection system.
Arseny Tretyakov, a postgraduate with St. Petersburg’s ITMO University, is developing a system to automatically detect fake news, a spokesperson for the university told Saint-Petersburg TV Channel.
Tretyakov suggest using neural networks and datasets previously collected. Testing the system demonstrated that it can detect 90% of fakes.
In future, the researcher intends to develop software or a plugin, where one could download a news item to check whether it is true or false. Tretyakov believes that his know-how will help people avoid panic, fears and inadequate actions.
Before starting his postgraduate course in technical sciences, Arseny Tretyakov studied journalism and worked as a reporter.
