The idea is to use molecules that block development of a number of viruses in the organism.
St. Petersburg researchers suggest using virus stimulation of immune system to fight coronavirus, TASS reports quoting Sergey Onikienko, Doctor of Medicine.
Specialists believe that Sendai virus, harmful for humans, could be used to fight coronavirus. Getting into the organism, it will activate generation of interferon that prevents development of viral and bacterial infections. Interferon proteins can stop coronavirus from reproducing in the cells affected.
Sergey Onikienko said that the researchers intend to address the Ministry of Health requesting a permission to start clinical tests of the new method to fight COVID-19.
