The Alexandrinsky Theatre is to show ‘the first night’ of its new performance online this weekend.
The Alexandrinsky theatre will show its new performance online. Due to coronavirus protection measures, the theatre has suspended admitting audience till April 11. Nevertheless, it will show the premieres it staged, Nikolay Roschin, chief director of the theatre, told at a press conference held via social media.
This weekend, the theatre will present a premiere of the play ‘Mauser’ by the Greek director Theodoros Terzopoulos. There will be only the director and cameras in the theatre hall. The audience will be able to see the performance live. After the show is over, the video will be removed.
Nikolay Roschin, chief director of the Alexandrinsky theatre, explains: ‘We could have rescheduled the first night for a later date, because theatre needs a contact with the audience, but the performance has accumulated so much energy in the process of rehearsals that we cannot just cancel it now.’
Another premiere is scheduled for April, it is ‘Nana’ by Andriy Zholdak to be shown at the new stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre. All broadcasts will be free.
