Anna Mityanina replaces Svetlana Agapitova as St. Petersburg’s Ombudsman for children’s rights.
The deputies of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly have elected new Ombudsman for children’s rights out of four candidates.
Anna Mityanina, currently a Vice Governor of St. Petersburg, was nominated Ombudsman for children. She will replace Svetlana Agapitova, who occupied this position for ten years.
Ana Mityanina was born in 1971 in Leningrad. She is a lawyer graduating from the St. Petersburg State University. In 1994, she started as a legal adviser with the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly. During 2003-2017, she was Chairperson of the St. Petersburg legal committee.
In February 2017 Anna Mityagina was appointed Vice Governor of St. Petersburg. In this position, she was responsible for the city’s social and demographic policy, social and health care, labour and employment.
