Due to the warm weather there is no solid ice on the city rivers and canals.
The navigation on St. Petersburg’s rivers and canals is likely to start earlier than usual due to the weather conditions, Alexander Radko, head of the St. Petersburg directorate of the Emergency Ministry’s State Inspection for small watercraft told Saint-Petersburg TV Channel.
As there were no frosts, there is no solid ice on the city’s rivers and canals, he added, reminding that it is strictly forbidden to go on ice where it does exist. This winter, five people drowned falling through the ice in the region.
