This is the first platform of the kind developed in Russia.
The National technology initiative center of St. Petersburg’s Polytechnic University is testing an open platform for developing neural interfaces, the first of its kind in Russia.
The authors of the know-how are engineers of the Industrial stream data processing systems laboratory of the National technology initiative center at the Polytechnic University. This is the first open code platform with a free hardware in Russia.
The platform includes a neural headset that measures brain activity signals while a mobile application generates control commands for the device depending on the data received.
The headset also controls the position of the head. It could be of use for long-haul truck drivers by alerting them if they start falling asleep when driving.
Initially, the device was developed for engineering and educational purposes. With other software, it can be used for controlling psychophysical conditions and be employed by organizations working with people with disabilities.
