On February 15 Evelin Glennie and the Scottish trio HLK will perform a jazz programme in the Saint-Petersburg Philharmonia, according to Blog.fiesta. Evelin Glennie is the first person in history to successfully create and sustain a full-time career as a solo percussionist.
Evelin Glennie went deaf in her childhood, but received music education despite the impairment learning to literally listen with her body. She started going on stage barefoot to feel music vibrations better.
Now, she is a world-renowned star. Evelin Glennie has won over 90 international awards, including the Polar Music Prize, and she played a leading role in the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games.
The concert is part of the of the UK-Russia Year of Music programme organized by the UK Embassy in Moscow with the assistance of the British Council.
