The territory of Petrokholod, St. Petersburg’s ice cream manufacturer, can be used for housing construction.
A new residential quarter can be built in St. Petersburg on the territory of the Petrokholod factory where ice cream used to be manufactured for years. The site has been put up for auction. The starting price is over a billion rubles (over $15.6 million). The lot consists of 12 buildings and 10 land plots with a total area of 6 hectares.
Experts believe some 100,000 square meters of new housing of ‘comfort’ and ‘comfort plus’ class can be built on the territory. Investment could make between 12 and 18 billion rubles ($187.7-281.5 million). A lot of contenders are expected to participate in the auction.
Olga Sharygina’ MD of Becar property development center, says: ‘The site is close to a metro station and the territory is large, which is a rare case, this will sound attractive for residential property developers.’
Petrokholod was founded in 1936, it is the only ice cream manufacturer in St. Petersburg. On its official web portal, the company says it is considering moving production facilities to a new location.
