Over 1,000 new jobs were created.
During 2019, the residents of the St. Petersburg Special Economic Zone saw their earning grow by 260% year-on-year, St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said when discussing launching a third site of the Special Economic Zone at the Ministry of Economic Development on Tuesday.
The investment made by the Special Economic Zone residents increased by 26% up to 10.4 billion rubles ($162.6 million), the tax they paid grew by 133% year-on-year up to 4.3 billion rubles ($67.2 million).
Over a thousand of new jobs were created at the two current sites where Special Economic Zone residents operate, in Neudorf and Novoorlovskaya.
At present, infrastructure and an innovation center are being designed for the new territory adjacent to the Novoorlovskaya site.
A third site is expected to provide development opportunities for companies in the pharma, IT and energy sectors. The Governor has commissioned finding a suitable location for the site.
