The artistic director of St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre, will conduct “Lohengrin” by Wagner.
Valery Gergiev, the artistic director of St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre will give four concerts in
Vienna State Opera, the press office of the theatre reports.
On January 9, 12, 16 and 19 the maestro will conduct the opera “Lohengrin” by Richard Wagner staged
by Andreas Homoki. Leading opera stars will sing, including the Polish tenor Piotr Beczala, the Swedish
soprano Cornelia Beskow, the American soprano Linda Watson, the Latvian bass-baritone Egils Silins,
and the Estonian bass Ain Anger.
Besides, during January 10-12 Valery Gergiev will conduct the Vienna Symphonic orchestra, which will
play the First Symphony (“Winter Daydreams”) by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and the Symphonic suite “Scheherazade” by Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov.
After that, Valery Gergiev will continue his guest tour conducting the Munich and Rotterdam
