By 2020, the exposition of St. Petersburg’s Kunstkammer museum is to be reshuffled to present it as it was planned by Peter the Great.
The exposition of St. Petersburg’s Kunstkammer museum (Chamber of Curiosities) will be reorganized in accordance with the initial plan of its founder, Peter the Great.
According to the director of the museum, the 18th century set-up will be recreated in the central part of the building. To make the new version interesting for today’s visitors, it will be supplemented with state of the art technologies.
The Kunstkammer is one of the world’s largest and oldest ethnographic museums, its collection consist of more than 1.2 million items.
The building of the Kunstkammer on Vasilievsky Island was designed by the architect Mattarnovi specially for the museum.
