The traditional Christmas event held in St. Petersburg annually is dedicated to “The Great Victory: Heritage and Heirs” this year. The conference participants, teachers and clergy, discuss the historic lessons of the World War 2 and moral development of young people.
‘We are set to speak with school students and with grown-ups, too, about the memory. We need to explain them that we cannot forget the history of our country’, Zhanna Vorobyova, Chairperson of the St. Petersburg Committee for Education, said.
Hieromonk Trifon Umalatov, head of the event and contest sector of the Synod religious education and catechism department, emphasized that education should not be split into spiritual and civil aspects, these are equal components of one whole, and both teachers and priests take part in child education.
The Christmas conference is held annually in St. Petersburg, the agenda of the event covers all aspects of the current church and secular life, one of the main tasks being finding Orthodox solutions to scientific and cultural problems.
