It is the first branch of the Hermitage Museum behind the Urals.
The Hermitage Siberia cultural and educational center opened on Wednesday in the city of Omsk, according to TASS.
The Hermitage Siberia Center is located in the new building of the Vrubel Museum of Fine Arts.
According to Vladimir Medinsky, RF Minister of culture, this is the third branch of the Hermitage in Russia and the first one behind the Urals. Such centers stimulate culture and art development and support links between museums, he said.
Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the Hermitage, promised that the newly opened cultural center will hold a lot of events just as the Hermitage does in St. Petersburg.
The first exhibition organized in the Hermitage Siberia Center offers an insight into the martial culture and weapon-related traditions of the Middle East.
