The city administration plans to compensate the carriers for the profit lost.
Football fans who will come to St. Petersburg to visit the Euro 2020 matches will be able to travel around the city using public transport for free, according to TASS.
The tournament participants, volunteers and accredited media will also be entitled for free rides in the city buses, trams, trolleybuses and metro as well as trains to the tournament destinations since 00:00 on the day of the match till 23:59 of the next day.
The carriers’ earnings are to be compensated from the city budget.
12 European cities will host the Euro 2020 matches during June 12 – July 12, 2020. Three group matches and a quarter-final are scheduled to be played in St. Petersburg. The Russian football team has qualified for Euro 2020 ahead of schedule.
