The tram will make a test run along the Moskovsky Prospect without passengers.
The first ever hydrogen-powered tram in Russia is to be tested in St. Petersburg on November 1, reports the St. Petersburg Committee for transport press office.
The tram will make a test run without passengers along the city streets from the Moscow Triumphal Gate and back.
The tram is equipped with an innovative power generation unit that proved sustainable, efficient and reliable during the tests made earlier.
The idea to make a hydrogen-powered tram was announced at the SmartTransport forum in 2016. The project is developed by St. Petersburg-based Gorelektrotrans, the company responsible for the city public electric transport (metro excluded), in cooperation with an affiliate of the Krylov State Research Center.
