The vessel was built at the Admiralty Shipyards.
On Saturday, the diesel electric Project 22600 icebreaker “Viktor Chermomyrdin” built at the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg left for sea trials.
According to the Admiralty Shipyards press service, during the trials the crew will test the vessel’s mechanisms and systems.
“Viktor Chernomyrdin” is the world’s largest non-nuclear icebreaker. It is 147 meters long and 29 meters broad. With a power capacity of 25 MWt the ship can move continuously in the ice up to 2 meters thick and break ice up to 3 meters thick.
