Yuriy Zinchuk, host: “And now let’s talk about the subject frequently covered on our show. The subject of St. Petersburg’s preservation. And here is a very vivid example of how one should do it. Residents of building number 5 on Ispolkomskaya street have managed to keep unique tiles depicting parrots and greenery alive. This is Konchielov’s profit house, built in 1910. Volunteers cleaned those and removed multiple layers of paint at the tiles and ceramic inserts at apartments’ doors. Moreover, they have turned to the committee on preservation of cultural objects – asking to register this entrance as a cultural heritage site. And this was done! Meaning that there is one more such sites in St. Petersburg from this week on. And that is great! Well done, residents and volunteers! This is a perfect example of how we should protect the city! And such line of defense must cross every building, entrance, historic door, a window or a vintage staircase. And we will continue tracking both the cases of such good deeds, as well as destruction of St. Petersburg’s history.
