The clever system allowing to monitor street cleaning online is to be fully operational in 2024.
The first road maintenance IT system in Russia is to be developed and implemented in St. Petersburg. City governor Alexander Beglov approved the project at a city government session.
The portal will accumulate data from all the bodies responsible for cleaning roads and intra-block territories. A pilot of the intellectual map was used last winter in Petrogradsky district.
The experiment was considered a success and it was decided to expand the technology to cover the entire city. The Governor believes the system is necessary to make road cleaning more timely and efficient.
According to Alexander Beglov, the system will show where cleaning is underway and who is responsible for that territory. It will also provide information as to the workload on snow melting facilities.
Motorists will be able to see online which streets in the city center are temporarily closed for snow cleaning.
The clever system will be implemented step by step and is to become fully operational in 2024.
