Citizens of the Baltic countries, Denmark, India and the Philippines are among the applicants.
During the first day when e-visas became available, some 3 thousand people applied to get them, according to Yevgeny Pankevich, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development.
Some 400 applications were submitted by Estonian citizens, and over 100 by Latvians. Also, there is interest on the part of citizens of Lithuania, Germany, Poland, India, Denmark, the Philippines, and China.
Introducing the electronic visa regime was initiated by St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov. It covers 53 countries, the issuance procedures are simplified. An e-visa is valid during 30 days and permits to stay in Russia for up to 8 days.
