Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the newly elected regional governors.
On October 9 Vladimir Putin met with the new regional governors that were elected this September. The president advised them to work in a close contact with people, not to be afraid of hard work and to respond to all the problems raised by citizens.
St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov noted that the St. Petersburg government is pursuing an open policy and implementing a development programme that was approved by the city residents. The aim to make St. Petersburg a comfortable, intelligent and socially oriented city.
A number of important regional projects are being implemented in St. Petersburg. The city government is making effort to reach a balance between new housing construction and social infrastructure development. Recently, the city has bought several social objects using federal budget money.
Alexander Beglov thanked Vladimir Putin for supporting the Leningrad Siege Museum reconstruction and the art park project, and for introducing electronic visas for tourists visiting St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast.
Simplifying visa procedures for tourists will help attract more travelers to St. Petersburg. In future, up to 12 million tourists are expected to visit the city every year, which will mean additional income for St. Petersburg’s budget.
Alexander Beglov also mentioned the effective cooperation between the city government and federal ministries and agencies, which will allow to implement a number of important projects, including infrastructure ones.
