This is the first exhibition of this kind in Russia and probably in the world.
An exhibition telling of the heroism of firefighters was opened at the newly built Prospect Slavy metro station in St. Petersburg.
The first visitors were Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Chupriyan and Chairman of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Vyacheslav Makarov.
Among the exhibits are fire engines of different models and mosaic panels depicting firefighters at work.
Alexander Beglov told about another project to honour firefighters, it is planned to create a patriotic park with an obstacle course and other attractions near the new metro station.
Vyacheslav Makarov said, the new station Prospect Slavy (the literal translation is ‘Prospect of Fame’) is an homage to the heroism of firefighters.
This is the first exhibition in Russia and, probably, in the world in the underground. Symbolically, the first professional firefighting team was also formed in St. Petersburg.
