A consultation to discuss the idea has been held.
The authorities of Russia and Belarus support the idea of building a high-speed railway to connect St. Petersburg and Minsk, Grigory Rapota, State Secretary of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, is reported as saying by TASS.
According to Grigory Rapota, a consultation between the two countries’ prime ministers, experts, railway operators and other specialists was held, and none of the participants was against the idea suggested.
Grigory Rapota emphasized that such railways are crucial for developing the relations between Russia and Belarus in the 21st century.
He added that the existing transport infrastructure does not meet state of the art technological requirements and the needs of the two countries’ economic partnership.
