The workload on the Visa Application Centre of Finland in St. Petersburg doubled.
The Visa Application Centre of Finland in St. Petersburg gets about four thousand visa applications every day, according to RIA Novosti.
The visa department is working in a very intensive regime. At the beginning of August, the visa department received five thousand applications a day. At present, there are four thousand applications a day, twice as many as usual.
The reason for the increased workload is that since September 1 Finland is reinforcing visa regulations for Russian tourists, so they will have to submit the same documents as other tourists irrespective of the country.
Russian visitors will have to prove they are solvent by providing a bank or credit card statement, proof of employment with salary information, or a document confirming that they own real estate property. Besides, tourists will be required to produce a hotel reservation confirmation and travel tickets.
