On September 19, the State Academic Capella and the St. Petersburg Photographic Artists’ Union present a new display in the framework of the photo project Churches of the Russian North.
Where: State Academic Capella
When: September 19 – October 3, 2019, 18.30 till 21.00
Admission: by tickets to a concert in Capella
Among the authors of the photos exhibited are such well-known St. Petersburg photographers as Sergey Andreev, Pavel Apletin, Valery Degtyarev, Alexander Dymnikov, etc.
The first photos that marked the start of the project were exhibited in the Capella gallery several years ago when the leading photographic artists of St. Petersburg took interest in the old Russian architecture.
In 2019, they travelled together to the Russian North visiting Novgorod, Pskov, Veliky Ustyug, Totma, Solvychegodsk, Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, Zaonezhye, Kargopol, Pinega and Mezen.
In these Northern territories, the influence of other cultures was not so strong, and old Slav artefacts are to be found more often and in a better condition.
The new exhibition displays pictures made during those expeditions.
