Russian culture centers are to be opened on the island.
A new Russian expedition to Papua New Guinea is scheduled to start this September, Nikolay Miklouho-Maclay, a descendant of the Russian explorer and scientist, also Nikolai Miklouho-Maclay, told the media.
In 2017 Nikolay Miklouho-Maclay led the first scientific research expedition in the contemporary Russian history on the trail of his famous ancestor and namesake.
Now a new expedition is launched to continue the research into the culture of Papua New Guinea. It is also planned to open Russian culture centers on the island where the locals will be able to study Russian.
According to Nikolay Miklouho-Maclay, Papua New Guinea is now often viewed a ‘gold island near an ocean of oil’, but in future it may become a great tourist destination.
