Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov and First Mayor of Dresden Dirk Hilbert held negotiations on cooperation between the twin cities in St. Petersburg.
Last year Germany became third largest trade partner of St. Petersburg. The parties intend to expand cooperation in business, manufacturing, medicine, transport infrastructure development and many other spheres.
There are more than 4,500 companies with German capital working in Russia, and more than 10% of these are active in St. Petersburg, A.Beglov reminded.
According to the Acting Governor, the city and its government are always ready to strengthen their ties with Germany, first and foremost with Dresden, which is a long-standing partner of St. Petersburg. At present, the twin cities are implementing a road map for cooperation development in 2018-2025.
The parties agreed to exchange their experience and technologies in the spheres of communal services, energy saving, using alternative energy sources in transport.
The acting Governor of St. Petersburg also supported the suggestion on organizing student exchange between the two cities.
The delegation of Dresden came to St. Petersburg to participate in the Dresden Opera Ball for the first time held in St. Petersburg on August 31.
A.Beglov invited Dresden representatives to take part in the International Cultural Forum and International Innovation Forum to be held in St. Petersburg in November.
The years 2018-2020 are cross-years of Russian-German scientific and educational partnership.
