Yuriy Zinchuk, host: “And now let’s enjoy the event that our channel has broadcasted. I am talking about the festive concert and show marking the City Day by the Dvortsovy Bridge. These scenes were fantastic! And some even had a better view – by staying at home and watching the show live on our station. Because it was raining heavily with a strong 15m/sec wind. But those participating in the show had no chance of staying indoors. And I want to draw your attention to the new element which was introduced into the festivities’ schedule. This is the show by the local masters of hydroflight. Russian does not even have this word in its lexicon. It means “the one flying above the water with the help of the water”. Just imagine – these athletes put on the highly-complex show amid rain and wind, in the middle of the night, on the surface of the Neva with its strong current. It looks a little like the flight of Iron Man from Marvel’s series. Let’s listen to these “iron men” and find out how they pulled it off. And even set a new World Record – going higher than 21 meters above the water.
Denis Kornilovich, Russia’s Hydroflight team: “We work in any weather conditions, except thunderstorms, hurricanes and high tides in oceans and seas. The geography of our performances is quite extensive – Middle East, Europe, Americas, Asia and, certainly, our huge country. If we are talking about St. Petersburg – it is one of the most difficult sites for us. The currents of Neva are very strong. So we had to make alterations due to the rain and the wind. Which did not stop us from flying that high and staying up there”.
