Yuriy Zinchuk, host: “This week marked a noteworthy event for our aviation. The legendary turbo-reactive jet TU-134 took off for its ultimate flight. It was the most mass-produced civic airplane in the country and the pride of domestic aviation. A slick design, which earned these airplanes a “stylish stud” nickname, and incredible flight qualities for that era.
Comfortable seats, increased noise reduction. A wonderful airplane, frankly speaking. And now its has come to an end. Now it has become part of our history. By the way, TU-134 has featured a lot in Soviet movies.
For instance, it was on board TU-134 that Zhenya Lukashin – the main character of the country’s main New Year comedy film “The irony of fate” – flew from Moscow to Leningrad. Although it was actually a blooper, which attentive viewers have noticed. Zhenya embarked onto IL-62 in Moscow, gets off the TU-154 plane in Pulkovo, while enjoying a good nap on board a TU-134.
