As per tradition, news service of “Sankt-Peterburg” TV station recalls the past year. And it was rich with events. Not only foreign politics shaped the landscape of news coverage in 2015. Life in the Northern Capital was bustling. Tragic and joyous, political and economic – here are 2015’s most important events as seen by the channel’s reporters.
Alexandra Lee, reporter: “It seems that Mephistopheles had to go through all circles of hell from this building at Lakhtinskaya. The architectural element – giving a sly look to the nearby temple – was knocked down by unidentified men this year”
One name did surface in this story though. Scandalously-known deputy Breus happened to be nearby on that day, gathered the bits of the fallen agent, having cleansed both the street and his soul. A place in purgatory was provided to him, strangely enough, by his party colleagues – they expelled him with official “voluntary departure” justification.
Opponents agree with the rallying people – they demand the monument to be restored on the historic building, not waiting for a capital renovation of it, as well as protection of such monuments and buildings. Such initiative has already been voiced on the legislative level – to forbid handing over of cultural heritage to religious organizations.
The bill was scrapped at the last session. But those obsessed with the idea have already estimated – the city may find 666 thousand rubles for restoration of the Mephistopheles statue.
