One of the Sochi2014 games victors, biathlete Dmitriy Malyshko, has returned to St. Petersburg. His plane landed after 1 am.
Upon arrival to the airport, the hero was met by crowds of journalists, city officials and, certainly, those who anticipated his return the most – his next of kin.
Natalya Malyshko, mother of Dmitriy Malyshko: “I am very proud of my son, very happy he won – it’s his 1st Olympic gold and I’m happy he didn’t let the whole of Russia down”.
Dmitriy Malyshko, Olympic champion: “Its been almost two months since I last been at home. I want to have some rest. So much training and nerves, the Olympics took a lot of strength, so I want to make a little break – to see my relatives and share my impressions, to meet fans and express my gratitude”
Tomorrow Dmitriy will travel to Moscow – for training. Another round of biathlon world cup is scheduled for March 6th.
Another participant of the Sochi games from St. Petersburg – curler Pyotr Dron – arrived on the same flight.
